Sandblasted pieces are usually my own original artwork. They are generally executed on 1/4 inch plate glass. The design area is masked with a resist material, which is handcut. Pieces are then sandblasted with an air compressor and sand, using a sandbasting gun. There are three techniques used in sandblasting, and the cost of these techniques progresses with amount of detail and the desired effect. For price quotes, call or e-mail me... The three techniques are as follows:
ETCHING is a light surface etch which shows up as white areas on the glass, giving a frosted appearance. Etching can be done on clear glass, colored glass, bevels, or flashed glass (clear or a colored base glass with a coating of another color fired on the surface).

STAGE BLASTING is another technique in which the resist is removed in stages and the piece blasted in stages; the glass is cut a little deeper, which gives a little more detail, and some dimension.
No examples at this time...Work in Progress
SAND CARVING is the ultimate. In this technique the same methods are used as for stage blasting except that the glass is cut exceptionally deep, actually carving into the glass to give a more 3-D effect.

Sand Blasting Combined with Enameling. These pieces can be done using any one or a combination of the above three technique , on clear glass, flashed glass, or bevels. Enameling (using glass stainers transparent enamels) is applied over the sandblasted areas giving a colored effect, then kiln firing which gives a nice fire polish to the blasted areas.
