Glasswork

I was born in Greensburg, Pa, in 1951. My family consisted of artists and I grew up in an art-oriented environment. At 5 years of age I was enthralled by the stained glass pictorial windows in an aunt's church we had visited and remember gazing up at those windows in awe, with the brilliant light just streaming down on me through them. It was like a door in heaven had opened and then shut, as stained glass never entered my life again until the age of 35. It was then I had the opportunity to learn stained glass and since then have never been able to leave it.

I enjoy gardening, camping, outdoor activities; and love animals, wildlife, and all of nature. God offers us an endless bounty of beauty through nature.

Settling here at the foot of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, I was able to obtain work at a local Stained Glass Studio and learn the basics of glass work. Continuing over the years since 1986, I have worked in conjunction with several studios in the area, learning from master craftsmen -- techniques, secrets, and tricks of the trade. After mastering the basics, I went on to specialize in the area of Hand-Painted Kiln-fired "Art Glass," applying my natural, life-long developed art ability to what seems to have become my "calling in life."

Branching out on my own... North Fork Studio was founded in 1989 and began at my home in a small attached garage. With constant work and perseverence over the years, North Fork has expanded to the point where we were able to build a larger studio, and I have been able to work at home. This has afforded me to be able to schedule my time and take advantage of classes offered by established professionals in the trade, and to advance my knowledge and skill. North Fork creates stained glass from conception to completion--starting with the designing stage and finishing with the completed piece. Although most of the early work is of a religious nature (having worked with local studios to create windows for churches), what is truly enjoyable are the commissions for panels for residential homes. Drawing on the beauty of natural surroundings to create and execute my own designs and artwork and to see what origianally started as a concept take on form and substance--that in itself is very rewarding.

North Fork Studio strives to uphold high standards and excellence in the stained glass trade. We will work with you to create a piece/ or pieces which you feel reflect your wants or desires, without giving up the standards of good stained glass work.
